This is a great murphy bed cabinet option at this price point—you just have to be prepared for a fairly long build if you're doing it yourself! It took me between six and seven hours to build this by myself. Like the reviewer from 11/28, I've also built quite a few pieces of furniture. This piece was definitely the most time-consuming and intricate unit I've built so far. Most of the pieces are pressed wood, and the finish can chip a bit when screwing in the hardware if you're not careful. My advice is to take your time, double check each step before you proceed, and queue up some playlists or podcasts you like because it will take you a while to put it together. I will say, the instructions for the first step did stump me a bit. My recommendation is to just line up the holes on the slides with the corresponding piece(s) it attaches to, and don't feel like you need to follow the instructions' order of operations if that's confusing to you, too. I purchased a tri-fold, six-inch, full-size memory foam mattress to go with the unit, and it fits perfectly! The only issue I have when closing up the unit concerns the button latch on the right side. Somewhere along the way, I must have not lined up a couple pieces exactly right because the pin isn't quite long enough to reach the hole it fits into. While a little disappointing, it won't be any trouble to create another fastening option for that side to keep it secure. Even with that issue, the unit still stays closed with the left latch alone. I just want the peace of mind knowing both sides are completely secure. Overall, I'm really impressed with how smooth the ball bearing slides are; everything glides so nicely, and that makes setting up the bed and putting it away really easy. I'm not the biggest fan of the silver pulls it came with, so I plan to swap those out for ones that are more my style, which is a great way you can add your personal touch to this unit and make it feel really cohesive in your space. I wanted to offer my opinion on this as I know the only other reviewer as of today had a really terrible experience with this piece. I don't share their experience with any screws breaking or having to consult customer service at any point; I do appreciate what they said about the instructions being a bit difficult to follow. They're definitely not the most intuitive set of instructions I've used, but you can do it if you just take your time and double check things as you go. I know that a solid wood version of this piece of furniture can go for around $2,000 and at least three times what I paid for this one ($569). If you're like me and that's simply not in your budget, this is really a great option to get the function and aesthetic of a murphy bed cabinet at a fairly affordable price point (especially if you use Affirm as I did). I'm very glad this option existed for me, so I can host guests with a bed that has a much smaller footprint (when closed up) than a standard full-size bed.
