OTHER: Hailing from Alberta, Canada, this tomato's name - Sub Arctic Plenty - really describes it quite well! Excelling in cooler weather & cool climates with a short growing season, a bounty of delicious 2" red 2 - 2 1/2 oz fruits can be yours in as little as 55 days, one of the earliest maturing of all tomatoes. This determinate open pollinated heirloom variety grows on compact plants, so they are a perfect choice for container gardening or for squeezing a lot into a small space without sacrificing production. With no need for staking, these impressive plants can produce hundreds of delicious tomatoes! They are juicy & have a true tomato flavor that is a bit sweet & a bit tart. When your plotting your tomatoes for the year, I strongly encourage you to include this as #1. You won't be disappointed!
Tomatoes have a wide variety of health benefits. They are high in the antioxidant lycopene, & contain high amounts of vitamins A, B, & C as well as many other vitamins & minerals.
Tomatoes can be eaten fresh like a fruit, added to salads, in salsa, or sliced for sandwiches. They can be cooked in any number of ways like grilled, fried, baked, or stewed, made into tomato bisque, added to stews, mixed veggies, or pretty much anything :) Of course without tomatoes, there would be no ketchup or red sauce for pizzas & pastas. Tomatoes can be stored by freezing, canning, or drying them.
Tomato plants are either considered to be determinate or indeterminate. What’s the difference? The fruit of determinate plants all mature at nearly the same time. Indeterminate plants continue to grow & produce fruit until frost.
