I thought you could tie it closed so it wouldn't blow away like a parachute, but you can't. I put a heavy block on top of it, inside the basin of the birdbath.

Should Protect in Winter

We have not had a chance to actually use this cover; however, we did try it on for size as soon as it arrived, and it fits perfectly. I am sure it will protect our fountain this winter.
