When my nature sandals first arrived, I really didn't think I was going to like them. I was expecting a spongier more flexible sole. I took advantage of some warm days we were having to wear them all day. And guess what, I liked them! All my current sandals are flip flops and I wanted to try something new. After wearing my nature sandals a while, I realized the flat soles were not made of brick and were actually comfortable and just what I needed. Often if your sole is too spongy, it's like walking on sand, feels great on your feet but is hard on your knees. This sole is actually very thick, substantial, and stabilizing. They're good for walking on uneven ground. They give support if your knees or ankles are bad but you still like to stomp around outdoors (they'll be great for camping). The sole is grooved which makes it slip resistant. As far as the fit, the length is true to size (maybe slightly longer than normal). If you have a high arch or wide foot you shouldn't have any problems because of the adjustable velcro straps (front, ankle and heel). My feet are narrow so the excess strap in the front does stick out quite a bit. The olive color is a nice neutral. My right shoe did rub a little on the inside strap. You may want to use some moleskin or a band-aid in spots until you get used to them.
