Sweet project for the beginners I made a new fin

Pre assembly very good some parts required modifications to fit into mating parts. Covering very good only minor re shrinking required. Hardware good quality assembly manual very good. I made a new fin and rudder to give it a more traditional stick look.

Still has a significant fun factor BUT

WOW, this will be my second review write for this aircraft.....I submitted a fairly comprehensive review last week, but its not posted as of yet. I still think this is a good buy for the money, barring its design flaws. And again as I said before, thats NOT a fault of HH, they don't build the aircraft, they only sell and support it. I gotta squeak about my latest discovery and it needs to be shared w all. I don't know how this design got past QC, perhaps it wasn't supposed to be discovered. but COME ON Hangar 9!!!! I have never seen anything so Mickey Mouse in design than this FAILURE. I noticed while "winterizing" my USTICK for the cold season and hanging her up that my landing gear was chaffed and sloppy. The wheels, collars, axles do get loose if you don't use some thread locker, and even though I DID use thread locker, I thought maybe a collar and grub screw had done just that, so I made the nominal attempt to tighten things up. But it couldn't be done, NOPE!! On top of the other "cheap way out" hardware issues I found w this aircraft, I discovered that these axle assemblies have soldered axles inside a hollowed out bolt?? At least thats what it looks like....check out the pictures. What the heck is that??? No wonder my wheels wobbled so bad?? This aircraft is still a hoot to fly, and Im not gonna just up and sell it because its had some bad hardware in the kit. I thought I got over all that drama by replacing the CA hinges and plastic control rods. BUT my GAWD!!! What a poor quality way to supply axles for an aircraft this size. I mentioned "bang for the buck" in my first review, I want to change that to you get what you pay for. It just takes these reviews to help debug the nonsense out of this ARF and turn it into a rock solid flyer. I still stand behind it is worth the money, and I would buy another, but I definitely wouldn't fall for HANGAR 9's way of taking the cheap way out in the hardware package. I have many H9 giant scale/warbirds in my shop, all of them are rock solid. This Ustick is no exception, except to for the crazy cheap hardware that is supplied, and perhaps a new way of doing business. And I don't mind making upgrades or fixing obvious flaws, another $20 in hardware, isn't a deal breaker. But these wheels and axle assemblies, SERIOUSLY???? SHAME ON YOU HANGAR 9, You're not even close to your reputation from years ago. I'll see what HH has to say about this in the days to come.

Outstanding Build Quality and Sparkling Performanc

I bought mine as soon as it came out. I installed a Graupner MZ24 radio and servos, a Fromeco switch and an OS GT 33. What a great combination! The model flies beautifully and the flaps are very effective. I also have a flight mode where all 4 surfaces work as ailerons or I can configure it to work in conjunction with the elevator for super tight square loops. The airframe is nicely built and the covering was top notch. You cannot put a model together for the amount they charge - the covering alone would cost $60 not to mention the hardware. It's a sharp looking model, great performance, very stable and forgiving - yet will hot dog like a foamy. This is a great model - if you are on the fence, don't hesitate and get one. It is vastly superior to anything that came before.
