Great lens even though not current generation
Great lens, but I purchased it by mistake. I honestly thought I was getting the G, which I ultimately returned this one for - that was my error in ordering, not Beach Camera's. The only reason is that I wanted the in-lens AF, which this one does not have. Otherwise this actually is a great old-school design, feels great and of high quality in the hand, and of course has amazing bokeh and razor sharpness. I did some online comparisons, and in some ways this outperforms the G, so I would do the homework and judge for yourself. Having newer Nikon DSLR bodies, my OCD just needed a "matching" lens. Otherwise I would have saved the money and kept this one. #sweepstakes
I am very happy with my purchase.
Pros: Drawing Is An Excellent, Light intensity, Af Is Fast, The Focus Is On A Quiet, Excellent Pokeh, Focus Can Very Cons: Is Not A Macro Other thoughts: The lens is optically as good as new even though it is refurbished. The product was involved in UV filter and lens hood.
Great Prime lens
Pros: Great In Low Light, Very sharp pictures, Light and easy to carry Cons: Need to zoom with feet Other thoughts: This is a great lens - it is making me switch out of the cheaper consumer zoom lenses that Nikon sells. I am willing to sacrifice the convenience of zoom for the sharpness that this lens brings. The 35 mm version of this actually may be more convenient if you shoot indoor groups very often.
