Very nice once you learned how to work them! No directions, but the trick is to turn the timer dial all the way to sixty and then back to the desired amount of minutes. When you do this, they work perfectly with a long, loud ring!

Good thing there are two of them.

The ring is a sort of metallic clang and if I'm not in the same room as the timer (which is why it's a good thing there are two of them), I would never have heard it. I take one with me in the house and set it a couple minutes before the one in the kitchen goes off. That way I can get there on time.
