Rivets Rub on Ankle Bone - Poor Design

I purchased my Legacy 32 boots at a local independent shoe store. I liked the way they felt in the store the short period of time I had them on. The leather is nice, and the safety toe is not big and bulky like other boots. After wearing them for a full day, though, I realized they have a huge flaw. The second set of rivets from the top are exposed on the inside, and rub right on my ankle bone. There's also a large bundle of threads where the tongue attaches to the outer shell near the rivets that rubs. I'm not sure who thought it was a good idea to not cover the rivets, and to run the thread bundle so high. Clearly the designers didn't wear the boots long, or they would have realized they needed to work on this area. I've included photos of the area in question. I've also included photos of the Danner boots that I replaced with the Rockys. You can see that the thread bundle doesn't run near as high, and the rivet nearest the ankle bone is covered on the inside with fabric. I always wonder how products like this make it past the design phase. Also keep in mind that I had to go a full size smaller than I normally wear in these. They are definitely not true to size. Now I'm stuck with a pair of boots that will hurt my feet every time I wear them.
