Best value and long lasting if applied to dry hair

I've always dyed my hair and tried all the usual brands - permanent and semi/demi, and this has been my favorite for years. Not a permanent color so no hair damage, and it'll easily last a couple months using any common brand shampoo/conditioner made specifically for colored hair, and always use cool water rather than warm. Completely ignoring the instructions, I get great gray coverage applying it to squeaky clean dry hair and leaving it in all day if possible. Keep in mind it will also dye your scalp and ears if you're not super careful but it does wash off with a little effort so nbd.
