Longtime Rocky customer, so here's way more review than you could've ever wanted. Scroll to the bottom for the short version.
Bought these after 3 years of daily wear and tear on my Alpha Force boots forced me to. These breathe way better than the alphaforce, which was my only complaint with those boots. Combine the breathability with the toe cap, and the pursuit is a huge improvement over the alphaforce. These are comfortable for an entire 24 hour shift, and I don't need to change socks halfway through like I had to with the alphaforce.
The gusset on the upper doesn't spread open very wide, so I can't tie the boots as snugly as I'd like to—otherwise I can't pull them off using only the zipper (I'm a firefighter, so I need to be able to get my boots off quick). Not being able to tie them snugly results in my foot sliding around on the inside... The sliding is significant enough that I'm confident in saying I would get blisters if I had to walk a long distance in them. This was definitely not the case with the alphaforce. However, for short distance walking/running there is no trouble. If I had to walk longer than a ¼ mile in them (like for a large brush fire) I could just tie them snugly and I don't think I'd have any issues.
The thick laces and rings (where you lace the boots on the upper) are absolute garbage, but you never use them in a zipper boot so I guess that's a very minor point. Thinner laces and hooks or eyelets instead of rings would be better.
Break-in was about a week because of the way the leather behind the toe cap bends down into the top of your foot as you walk (I only experienced this with the left boot—the right boot required zero break-in).
Whatever material they used directly behind the toe cap makes them look kinda ugly in the pictures, so I was hesitant to purchase them, but in-person they look much better.
TL;DR: More-durable and more-breathable than the alphaforce. Just as comfortable. Fantastic price. I definitely recommend them. If breathability and toe cap durability aren't a concern to you, stick with the alphaforce. If Rocky put their new breathability tech into the alphaforce, I'd go back to those.
