We only have one room that gets hot. It's maybe 1000 sq ft with a vaulted ceiling. This device does not make it cold in the room, but it keeps it in the mid 70's when the room would normally be in the mid 80's this time of year. I might have gone with a slightly higher BTU if I could do it all over again, but it still works well. It is not particularly quiet but that is the nature of an in-room air conditioner.
