3D Hot Cocoa Ornament 12 - Craft Kits - 12 Pieces

This craft is a mix of great & “bummer”. I did it with a 1st grade class. It worked, but I did the initial steps ahead of time. I wrapped the blue felt around the paper tube & attached the handle for each piece. Then with each step I passed out the next piece they needed. They could do it, & the final ornament is adorable. But it would have been a really disappointing craft if they’d been left on their own. The blue foam doesn’t adhere well long term (a year later on our tree, I will hot glue.)

I ordered this ornament craft kit for my daughter's 6th grade holiday class party and so she could assemble some extras to hand out as Christmas Gifts to relatives. The initial assembly was rough as the very first portion of the instructions provided didn't make any sense, the pictures were confusing and unclear. After tons of fiddling between my daughter, me, and my engineer husband I finally had an epiphany on what it was trying to get us to do. If anyone orders these in the future, take note that the white tabs it has you put together to insert into the white tube need to be slid together on the long slit ends to make an 'x' and then you just need to slightly fold down the tops of each part of the 'x.' When you do, it will look like the picture in the instructions but only after you've inserted it into the tub. I found it easier to fold the tops of them after it was already in the tube but my daughter liked to do it before she put them in the tube. My daughter thinks the final product is super cute and made for a very unique 3D ornament! It was just the right age level for the 6th graders to assemble without any issues after we troubleshot the assembly at home prior to the party.
