The best 1200 in the world

The best turntable that i've ever had, and i had allmost 30 decks in my hi-fi joureny... Outperforms even X3 and X4 of it's price. If you have the money - do it. You work hard and you live only once.

Great motor, sub-par arm lifter.

It's a real shame that Technics puts such quality into the motor and base of this turntable, but cut corners on the tonearm curing device (arm lifter). The arm lifter does not have the quality of Technics of old. The lifter is flimsy and can drop on its own, if you're not careful and keep a watchful eye on it while elevated. Plus, when at its highest position, it drops like a rock for a few mm until the damping kicks in when you lower the arm. I sent videos to Technics technical team, who in turn said they forwarded the videos to the engineers in Japan. The conclusion was that this is normal operation.

Hello Chris! Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We're pleased to hear that you appreciate the motor and base quality of the turntable, but we're truly sorry that the arm lifter didn't meet your expectations. We understand your concerns and appreciate your patience in providing videos to our technical team. While the damping mechanism is part of the design, we certainly want to ensure our products meet the high standards you expect from Technics. We'll continue to monitor feedback like yours as we strive to improve our products. Thanks for being a part of the Technics community!
