I should have looked for granny pants. I compared the underwear I had previously purchased and went only by the leg opening. These sit a bit lower so the elastic hits below the waste and changes the fit. They are well made, and now the size is aspirational.

I have worn Hi-cut, cotton, brief underwear for over 30 years. I have bought Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, Just my size and Fit for me. I needed more and bought Haines as they generally last longer. I was severely disappointed. While they changed the leg cut-outs and repositioned them a bit- THAT actually worked out better and other than the waistband- these fit better than they used to. The BIG problem IS the waistband. IT DOES NOT sit at the waist and cover your belly button. It sits and inch or more below your belly button. I guess they are bikini hi-cuts now. AND the waistband itself is about 1/3 the width that it used to be. No more Haines for me.
