We buy this every year for the new season. Unlike some in the reviews, we've never been disappointed... but I think we use this product differently. We dump the bag into a large bin, and add several gallons of water, stirring and fluffing until it absorbs. Then we add a small amount (several tablespoons) of the water retaining crystals. And THEN we add in three bags of standard Miracle Gro potting soil. This has been our go-to for flowers and any veggies we grow in containers. The Expand 'n Gro allows our potting soil to go farther than it might otherwise, and the water crystals keep the pots from drying out. I have everything from green beans to corn - AND many flowering plants and herbs - in containers, and we have thus far always been thrilled with the results we get!

Planted some late corn in my garden July 27 in slightly muddy ground. The ground was too muddy to spread the dirt back over the kernels, so I got the bag of Miracle-Gro Expand 'N Gro & used it to cover the kernels of corn. I Immediately started my regime of daily watering and every kernel was up by July 31!
