The Unfinished Church

I find "The Unfinished Church,” a truthful lesson in diversity, community and love. Full of depth and with a keen insight in to today's world. It is written in a creative style that makes it a simple read to get and understand.   I must first thank the author as he makes this read an easy and fluid one. It is very clear to understand that the gathering of broken people called the church is indeed another way of saying yes, we all have needs.  It is plainly stated that if  only by loving one another no matter how different we concurrently perceive ourselves and others it is this pain and our needs that will ultimately bring our community together for the glory of our God who we all must continue to obey.   Personally, I loved it!  It was written with such heart and it truly helped my thirst for "Spiritual Hunger" to be quenched and satisfied. Because of the author's sincere honesty and truth that so smoothly rose off the pages I will definitely read it again.   My craving for an easy and concise explanation of today's church and what it means to me was nourished substantially. To understand that today's church must be one of community was crystal clear in Bentz's description of one body with many parts. As broken and needy a people we all are individually, it is this one communal body that allows us to function beautifully together.   My favorite Bentz quote is..."Brokenness and Beauty is something to cherish and behold...", mostly because I myself have felt this way for a long time. I have always perceived the church as more of a hospital of sorts than just a place of worship. A very caring, safe and beautiful place to come together with like minds and souls, believers if you will.   It was revealing for me to have someone, as practical and learned as Rob Bentz put in to print what I so often questioned myself. This allowed me to gain a deeper understanding into our brokenness in a new and beautiful way. It allowed me to be at the beginning of feeling OK in my very own brokenness.   And of course as he cited the many bible verses throughout I continued my nourishment of Christ and digested these truths that are around our lives always.  I find it a helpful guide for my own future growth. It humbled me while giving me a renewed strength to go on.   Our journey as Rob Bentz points out in the writings of John Bunyan are easily interpreted by him. He allows the reader to meet and learn from his own these personal characterizations as his writing style once again courageously brings them to life. As described by Bentz we travel with them all. Since reading this book I find Christian, Helpful, Evangelist, Interpreter and Faithful all act as Encouragers to me now and on a regular basis.  Because I read this book I am now more secure and ready to jump in and be a part of the building crew of the Lord's church. I've always felt that readiness is everything. So, if ready I highly suggest for you too to read it and learn. I am certain you will not be disappointed and you too will get it as well. Trust me it will be well worth your investment of time.   What a great truth it is that Bentz shares with us the realization that not only are we all in need of trying everyday to complete within ourselves that which God has given to us. But also to now possess the knowledge sand understanding that with the allotted time He, God has given to us and by His grace we all may help finish construction on our Lord's personal creation personally me and “His Unfinished Church!”
