The story of Home Line began in Philadelphia in the mid-60-s, when an earnest, down-on-his-luck businessman named Charles (Chuck) Verne decided to try his hand in the furniture business. With the help of his teenage sons Joe and Lew, he opened Chuck-s Bargain House. By the late 60-s, Joe and Lew were taking over most of the responsibilities from Chuck and were setting their sights on distribution. The business had quickly transformed from a used furniture store, to a new and used furniture store and eventually to a wholesale showroom. The turning point came when an opportunity to purchase hundreds of lamps at a -close-out- price surfaced. When a few hundred lamps sold out in 3 days, they knew distribution was what they could do best. Through sheer determination and ideas centered on providing retailers with furniture distribution services that were second to none, the territories quickly expanded.
