BOOX Page 7" E-Reader

After a mix-up on my first order where I was sent the Boox Go Color 7 instead of this, I'm really pleased with this e-reader. I chose the Page because I had seen other reviews that complained about the screen darkness in color e-ink readers, which is inherent in the current technology because of the color filter layered over the black and white. I tried to make it work with the BGC7, but ultimately decided to return it for that very reason. I would have had to turn up the screen brightness quite a bit to mitigate it, which could drain the battery faster. My experience with the Page was great from the start. The text is crisp, and I can read with no backlight during the day and save my battery life. There are tons of settings to customize to your liking, which I love, but might not be the best for someone who prefers something usable right out of the box. That said, it's just a little bit of tinkering up front, and then you're off to the races. I love that it has an open ecosystem so I can access both Libby and Hoopla through my local library and also read my purchased books from Kobo, Bookshop.org, B%26N Nook, and Kindle. I hate reading books on my phone, so being able to read through the Hoopla and Bookshop.org apps on e-ink was the biggest selling point for me. My only real complaint is the out-of-date Android 11 version and the potential security concerns that come with that. For that reason, I created a separate Google account specifically for these devices and avoid saving passwords or any other sensitive information.

Great device, weird that I couldn't get it directly from the website but was glad Walmart had it available. The best part is being able to get any app on it and customize the screen appearance for every app.
