Granular Bentonite Clay for Pond Sealing - 25 pounds

Key item features

  • Effective Sealing: This granular Wyoming Sodium Bentonite clay, a blend of chips and powder, expands significantly with water to effectively seal pond soils and stop leaks.
  • Versatile Applications: An all-natural pond sealant suitable for large ponds, lakes, waterfall edges, farm ponds, livestock tanks, and pipe sealing, offering a flexible, natural seal.
  • Application Method: For optimal sealing, drain the pond, mix the bentonite clay into the pond bottom and side soil, then disk harrow and compact the mixture.
  • Variable Rates: Application rates range from 2 to over 5 pounds per square foot, depending on soil type; clayey soils require less, while sandy or gravelly soils need more.
  • Core Trenching: For dam repair, excavate a 12-inch wide core trench at least 3 feet below the pond bottom, mixing bentonite with excavated soil at a 30% ratio, then compacting in 6-inch lifts.
  • Pipe Sealing: To seal around leaking outlet pipes, excavate 24 inches, replace with 100% Wyoming Sodium Bentonite Clay, then backfill with native soil and compact.

Bentonite Clay saved me $3500 in repairs

"Waterproof Solutions" wanted to charge me $3500 to put in a french drain to make my basement stop leaking. The bag of Bentonite was hard to find anywhere but Walmart had it online for $80. I poured the bentonite along my outer foundation wall and in a puddle and the basement leaks have almost completely stopped.

We used pond sealing clay last weekend on a 3 foot deep by 1 foot in diameter ground hog hole in the side of our levee on a 1/4 acre-ish farm pond. It seems to be holding only time will tell. We are experiencing a drought in west Tennessee and our pond is very low, seeping water is not as easy to detect. So far the pond repair is holding.

Product arrived undamaged. The instructions sent to me on performing the bucket test were clear and the test proved the ability of the product to seal the dam face with recommended amount. Having knowledgeable staff added value to the test and any questions were addressed as we went along. As the amount needed is almost 25 tons of product, a precise test was excellent to verify ability of product to do the job with proper application.
