Souns very good for the price

I bought these to replace my Rockford fosgates that was in the truck when I bought it. Sounds better on the mids, and highs but bass sound weird to me, but I have two ten inch subs so I might have just got use to the hard hitting bass and the door speakers are lacking. They hold up good to 80 watts max and are very loud and clear at high volume. I have the 6.5 inch, 6 by 9's, 4 inch, 4 by 6's, and the full range system, all are exultant products for the price. I have the 6.5's and the 4's installed and they scream. I will buy again if the company is still around in the future.

More bass with speaker enclosure

I plan on purchasing these speakers and put them in an enclosure. I've heard these speakers inside an enclosure and it was running off the receiver and they really sound good. I'm going to put an amp on them and filter out the mids and highs. I know they will produce more bass because of the enclosure. People that say these speakers doesn't produce bass, don't have it inside an enclosure.

Can't complain!

The original speakers (not Bose) in my 2002 GMC Sierra were shot, and I needed to replace them without spending a lot of money. I read a couple of Walmart reviews on the 5 1/2" model that said these were a good value, so I decided to take a chance on this HD6503 pair for the front. While in the store, I saw a clearance table with the HD4603 4 x 6 models on closeout for $19/pair, so I went ahead and got them for the back also. Watched some YouTube videos on installation, and after I got the hang of it, installation was easy #more on installation that you will want to know in last paragraph#. The sound isn't half bad, and I wasn't used to getting this much bass response out of my car stereo #now most of the bass comes from the 4 x 6s in the back - its just the way the stereo seems to be custom equalized to perform from the factory - when I fade to the front 6 1/2 door speakers, the bass drops out quite a bit, but again, I think that's just how the stereo was designed at the factory#. I'm certainly getting more volume before distortion than the original speakers ever had. I'm sort of having to play with the bass and treble depending on what radio station I'm on or what CD I have in, and I don't remember having to ever do that with the OEMs, but then again, they'd been shot a long time. At $29.95/pair in the store, I can't say I could have asked for better results for the money. Overall, I changed out all 4 speakers for $49 plus tax, which won't buy one higher end speaker, but since I wasn't changing out the radio, I didn't see the point in spending $150/pair on high end speakers. I spent over $100 for a 6.5" speaker pair for a vehicle nearly 30 years ago, so its hard for me to believe you can still get speakers this decent for this kind of money. I think these will serve just fine as OEM replacements. I'm pretty happy with what I got for what I spent. I only gave 4 stars because, well, we're not talking about high end components here. These are a good value, but its not like you're getting $200 speakers for 30 bucks. So take that mentality into consideration if you're asking why I didn't go 5 stars. If you're replacing Bose speakers, do a little research about ohm compatibility before deciding to go with these or any other aftermarket speakers. Bose speakers typically have a higher ohm load and require a different kind of amplifier than the most common speakers. If I were replacing Bose, I'd check my local salvage yards first. You need to know that you may have to do some simple rewiring, and that no wires are included with the speakers. Included in the package were 8 screws which were too small and 8 clips I couldn't figure out how to use. The vague and oversimplified installation instructions that came with the speakers were NO HELP AT ALL with this and I couldn't find any more detailed installation help on their web site #another reason I didn't give 5 stars#. Scoshe makes an adapter kit to work with the GM factory speaker connectors, but my Walmart store didn't carry it. Scoshe also makes the frame adapter for each vehicle make, but my store didn't have that either - so I had to drill new holes in the door and use self-tapping #10 x 1" screws to mount the speakers. They do carry a little speaker connector kit with the Sosche brand on it for about $6 #which is a bit high considering there are only 8 connectors in the pack that you'll actually use - 4 if you're only doing a speaker pair#. which has all the connectors you will need, although if you want to buy packs of 20 connectors, you can certainly find them at an auto parts store, and you'll need two sizes of female blade disconnectors - .250" for the positive and .110" for the negative blade made for 18-22 gauge wire #they're typically the red size - my Walmart didn't have these#. You'll also need a pair of wire stripping and crimping pliers. The Sosche speaker installation kit, which has tools you probably already have, is not necessary. Seriously, watch some YouTube videos on car speaker installation for your specific vehicle. They will help you know things like which wires are positive and negative and how to get to the speakers in your specific vehicle. If your Walmart carries the door frame adapter and the speaker wire adapter, it will be a little more money out of your pocket, but could also save you an hour or so during the installation - snap out, snap in, you're done, rather than cutting, stripping wires and drilling holes in the door.
