Genuine LG AEQ72910411 Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly

This seems to be a good ice maker replacement for the LG refrigerator. Note- this has the yellow connctor. if your ice maker has a white pigtail, this is not compatible. LG did a poor job of labeling their parts. This is a known problem. Unfortunately this was the wrong part for my refrigerator. This was not the fault of the vendor. I had to return the product, but I blame LG and their faulty naming structures for replacement parts. Do as much research as possible before you purchase so you know you're buying the right connector.

This is an exact OEM replacement with one exception. As shown in the first photo, the replacement comes with a yellow 20-pin connector. The icemaker from my 2018 LG refrigerator has a white 20-pin connector, which is smaller than the replacement. You can swap in the new plug by opening access panel to the wiring harnesses. There are two connectors to unplug. However, you end up using the old temperature sensor because of how the wires are ganged together. So if you want to or need to replace the temperature sensor, you will have to splice it in. Fortunately my sensor did not need replacing and once installed the new unit worked perfectly.
