Pieces won't slide around if board is bumped.

This was a gift for my son who is just learning chess and he and I both love it. It is made of a smooth wood with great wooden pieces. The magnetic board makes it so that the pieces don't move or tip over if the board is bumped. That was the main reason we got this particular set and we it works exactly as we wanted it too. The drawers have to be opened at the same time but that was something that was easy to find out.

one piece board won't collapse, strong magnets

A 10" chess board is hard to find - this is a great size to carry in a backpack - well made wood and easily distinguishable dark and light squares -magnetic quality is excellent and draws stay closed when carrying so pieces don't fall out. Foldable boards collapse when you pick them up so it won't matter if pieces are magnetic - this won't collapse.
