- This is an edge of your seat, action adventure, novel from an Alaska State Trooper Fish and Wildlife Trooper's perspective.
Trooper Carlisle is living the dream. He always wanted to be a brown shirt, a Fish and Wildlife Trooper in Alaska. Now he is. Now he covers for another Trooper and takes a call that seems harmless at first, routine, something he has done before. Life has a funny way of throwing a test at you that you must pass or you will die. No good deed goes unpunished. SURVIVE is full of twists and turns. Trooper Carlisle will not quit though. He is engrained with that tenacity that he has to pull on. Sticking with it. Not giving up no matter how hard. He has to draw from deep within, that which he has always had, but never knew to what depth and degree he had it. Survive.
SURVIVE was conceived and the first draft written literally in hunting camp in Alaska. David completed the final extended draft, completed the covers and edited the novel. David knows a thing or two about surviving. He survived Alaska. Here is a sample of SURVIVE: A pinpoint of light crept in from the inky blackness. My mouth felt dry and I perceived a heavy iron laden taste in my mouth. The fuzzy edges of my vision closed in and let out. Bright lights danced about in the middle of the foggy haze. I opened my eyes slowly as I woke up staring at the sky wondering how long I had been out. The clouds made dark grey swirls above my face and the cold of the early fall air bit at my nose as I took the short breaths that the pain allowed me. I felt the ache in my side. It was a searing pain. It was a deep pain. Like a cramp and burn all wrapped up inside of my side. It reminded me that I had not dreamt what had just happened. Oh how I prayed it had all been a dream. It surely happened. I only wished I could turn back time, to stop the events that led up to this day. But that is not how life works. This pain would not go away. Time would not rewind. I am surrounded by bodies...
