I purchased this as a second meter to compliment the AccuChek Nano that I tend to run out of strips on between insurance paid refills. Strips for this meter are quite affordable from many sources vs. many of the popular meters so I thought I would give it a try. Pros - very nice lancet system, illuminated display with inverted display option, manual fasting / pre / post meal markers (vs. automatic by time of day) and the strips have an excellent capillary action (as does the AccuChek) that too many meters tend to be weak on. This is a really common problem with many "house brand" meters. Cons - just a minor one that surprised me. The included case does not have compartments to store each item. Most meter bags have a space to hold the meter in place, a band for the lancet and another for the vial of strips. Here you have to remove the meter and vial for every test. Not handy when not at home. Note - if you are buying just to test once in a while, remember that test strips have a limited shelf life. I read an unhappy review about the second vial being bad after a year... that is to be expected. Summary. This is an excellent bundle for the price. Perfect if you need a meter while traveling or just check occasionally. Once you use it, you will likely find that the Bayer system is really very good and consider switching to it. I know I am impressed.
