Germania Mint Beech Leaf The last release in the popular Mythical Forest series from Germania Mint is the 2023 Beech Leaf. APMEX is proud to offer the release in Silver BU and Proof options, with 25,000 and 500-round mintages, respectively. An extremely limited mintage Gold release is also available with only 100 rounds made.
Various historically important elements are incorporated in the design of the fourth release of the Mythical Forest series. The beech tree, a symbol of divine wisdom and law, as well as longevity, is associated with Svarog, the Slavic god of fire and sunlight. This connection was deemed to be confirmed due to the tree's resistance to lightning. The intoxicating effects of eating young beech tree leaves and fruits were believed to calm the mind and facilitate communion with the deity. Statues, burial shrines and barrows were built under the shade of the beech tree in recognition of this association.
The bicephalous eagle (two-headed eagle) is a Roman mythology symbol associated with Janus - the god of all origins, guardian of doors, gates, passages and bridges, and the patron of contracts and alliances. Heads facing the opposite direction symbolize the past and the future.
