From the Gateway Books series - a series of interesting stories for the slightly older child, with some adventure and each with a Christian theme. Unwanted by her mother, Ruth is sent to Beaulah House. Ruth makes friends with Gilbert Taylor and the other children, but she is a rebel and won't forgive her mother. When Gilbert becomes a Christian, Ruth follows suit, but is not really interested and soon gives up Christian ideas. It is only when she thinks again and goes to see her mother that things get better.
