Not too big. And actually, the sectional is very roomy. My pergola is 8x8. Fits perfectly. I did not use the clamps, which will leave the orientation versatile i.e., I can have a love seat and single. Instructions are very clear. I was able to assemble everything myself in 2.5 hours. Just do as instructed and DO NOT tighten 100% as you go along. Just screw in enough to "set" and then move on. Wait until you have a chair assembled and then tighten everything. Only exception is the first very long screw on the end pieces. (There are only two of them.) Those, tighten 100% to begin, and then the rest will line up at 50%, leaving you to tighten everything to 100% before moving on to the next piece. I find the table high. Saving it for a side table somewhere else. I have a small fire table to sit in front of this sectional.
