Just get your tools ready, and you can fix any dangerous sunken outlet or unsightly switch in no time.
You will need:
- Our outlet box extender (keep on reading to find out how to choose the right size)
- A star (Phillips) screwdriver
- A tape measure
And that's it! Follow the easy steps we outlined for you below.
HOW TO USE OUR EXTENDERS
1. Shut off power at the source.
2. Remove the outlet cover plate.
3. Measure the distance from the face of the outlet box to the outside wall surface and select the corresponding thickness of the extender.
4. Test the outlet to ensure the power has been disconnected.
5. Remove the scews holding the outlet or switch in place.
*two screws with single gang and four screws with two-gang outlet boxes
6. Slide the extender carefully over the device and wires.
7. You can go ahead and tighten the screws holding the wires in the switch or outlet
8. Make sure the inner flange is towards the box.
9. Replace the original screws through the device and the new extenders.
*longer screws are needed for extensions over 1/2"
10. Tighten screws snugly and ensure the device is firmly positioned.
11. Replace the cover plate and turn on the power.
