What is a Prop propeller Safety Guard ? What is the Propeller Guard Made Of ?
A propeller is the most important part of the ship. The propeller is submerged under the water and has blades or wings like a fan, propelling the ship in the water. Since the propeller is under the surface of the water, it can happen that rocks and underwater reefs can damage the blades of the propeller. In order to avoid such damage, a propeller guard needs to be installed.

It is made of Rigid polypropylene Plastic which makes it water-resistant and prevents rusting in the salty waters of the ocean.

Apart from rocks and reefs, prop guards also offer protection to people who might come in contact with the propellers while doing snorkelling and underwater swimming. Prop guards also protect marine animals who could lose their lives by colliding against the fast-moving propellers.

There are different varieties of prop guards, which differ according to the size of the propeller and the choice of the propeller guard that a shipowner wants. They come in sizes that vary anywhere between 9 to 14 inches.

How to Install a Marine outboard propeller safety guard ?
Propeller Guard Installation Instructions :

Tools Prepared : Drill with 5/16" bit , 7 sets bolts
11" Propeller Cover upper need 4 sets bolt , under need 3 sets bolt .
Place the propeller Guard on the underside of the cavitation plate . Align the guard so that equal distance exists between the guard and the prop when the propeller revolves inside the guard
The guard should be positioned as far forward on the cavitation plate as possible .
Remove trim tab under cavitation before installation of propeller guard for 9" 11" 13" 14" guards
Drill 4 holes through the cavitation plate and guard on each side . insert bolts , wahsers and Nyloc nuts as illustrated and loosely tighten .
Drill 1 holes through lower skeg , per illustration , insert bolt , wahser and Nyloc nut , tighten securely . Now tighten cavitation bolts .
