This replacement feels strong and solid. The original had a broken internal plastic part. It's probably a good idea to not over-tighten the rod clamp. To replace, pry off the cap on one end of the rod, remove the screw from the wall, break any sealant gluing it in place (a sharp hit with your hand may do it), then slide the wall fixture off the rod. Now you can slide off the old glide element and replace it with the new one. Put new sealant on the old sealant, place the wall fixture back on the rod, settle the wall fixture securely in place, replace the screw tightly, and snap the cover back on.
