Nice looking heavy latch, but.......

Upon receiving the latch we tried to install it on our barn door. Every time we tried to slide the door open the hook came right out of eye. We even reversed the two pieces and still the same thing. It wouldn't keep the door locked. So we decided to attach the hook on the door frame and angle the eye to the left on our barn door so that the piece that the hook goes into is slanted (left). Now the hook won't come out of the eye when we try to open the door from the outside. It does still come out when you lift it out from the inside. All in all we like the hook and eye after we made that adjustment.
