The book begins with Del and the half kin fighting the dragons. The dragons flee, and Dell is taken to live with God for ten thousand years. Del returns to the island to save it from the dragons that have returned to destroy it. But he needs to get God's attention, and maybe the dragons can either be destroyed or put back to sleep before all hope is lost.
