This is exactly what I wanted. As those of us with microwave-based stove vents know, they don't actually work very well on managing smoke from the stove! While this vent hood doesn't change the fact that the vent still simply draws the air up through the microwave and pumps it out through the top vents, it does accomplish what it was designed to do and what I needed. What is that? It extends the reach of the vents by covering the area over the front burners with a nice-looking and easy to install metal hood. There are no fans in this hood extension, but by extending the coverage, this hood prevents the smoke from wafting up onto the microwave face and cabinets above, thus directing the smoke back to the microwave vents so they can do what they do. Not a perfect answer - that would be an expensive and professional externally-venting stove hood - but an easy and inexpensive answer that makes the existing partial solution just enough better. I will be buying another one of these for my second microwave/stove combo since the solution works well. One tiny note that shows in other reviews too - it did arrive with a small dent/imperfection from shipping. The seller was quick to respond and agreed to work with me to address it, but it's such a small blemish I decided to keep it as-is.
