The Scarlet and the Black is a very good movie, It is based on a true story and Gregory Peck's performer is very good. Besides being a sad movie at times it has a little of humor. I am a christian and I appreciated the story very much, specially at the end when, when the priest shows the true love of Christ and because of it the enemy was blessed. I definitely recommend this movie.

Excellent Color Classic!

This is a really good color classic! It is full of intrigue, keeps you on your toes, and has great actors! I believe it is based off a true story that happened during WWII. Gregory Peck plays a brilliant role as a priest who hides allies from their enemies. He outsmarts the German gestapo chief who tries desperately to catch him. But the priest always stays one step ahead of him with disguises and brilliant trickery. I'm not usually a fan of WWII movies, unless they keep me really interested. This one does that! It's a great movie!

Wonderful cast, Great true story!

I have enjoyed this movie from when I first saw it on tv. My previous copy got lost (son actually borrowed it) so I ordered another copy. Because it is one of my favorite movies that has a permanent place in my video library. It represents what Christianity is REALLY about. Inclusion, love, forgiveness, and respect for ALL.
