These riflescopes feature exposed elevation turrets built for dialing at extended ranges, while low-profile, capped windage turrets maintain the scopes’ sleek lines. The HS LR comes well-equipped with generous eye relief, and an advanced optical system with 4x zoom range for easy target acquisition and clear view.
- A subset of the Viper HS line, the Viper HS LR 6-24x50 First Focal Plane scope is perfect for when you need to extend your range and drop and wind drift compensation are crucial.
- The XLR Reticle is a hashmarked MOA-based long range reticle with wind drift dots and 1 MOA wind reference subtensions. Good for long range users dialing for drop or holding drop while using the reticle.
- In the advanced optical system, the XD glass renders an image that is sharp and clear from edge to edge. There are XR multi-coated lenses allowing you to capture the most light from dawn til dusk.The 4x zoom range will pull you close to your target.
- The HS LR offers exposed target-style elevation turrets for dialing elevation at extended ranges. The CRS Zero Stop allows you to get back to referencing zero even after coming up several revolutions on the turret.
- Ultra-hard, scratch resistant Armortek coatings protect the exterior lenses of the scope. Argon purging provides fogproof and waterproof performance. The hard-anodized matte black finish is extremely durable and looks awesome too.

Vortex Viper HS LR FFP scope
Ordered and received in a timely manner from a sporting goods source that had a listing on the Walmart website. Mounted the scope and sighted in at the range easily enough. I added Vortex flip covers that I ordered online, #7 objective lens cover and #E-10 ocular lens cover. It sits atop a Savage 12FCV 223, with Leopold #59245 two piece steel picatinny rail mounts with Leopold #170512 low steel rings. This has the objective lens 3" sun shade(included) about .110" off the barrel, nice and low. I find that it's kinda crazy that you can't use the maximum hold over reticle marks at full magnification. When your at 24 power you lose the bottom moa hash reticle hold over lines from 24 - 32, you have to back off the magnification to about 20 to get all 32. Unless I am doing something wrong? Not a real issue with this caliber as the round is running out of gas at 700 yards, which is where 24 moa at full magnification will let me shoot to. This set up is for target and prairie dog shooting.

Another great product from VORTEX and the Sportsmans Guide
Matched the HS LR to a RPR in 308. Zeroed on the 25M range. Moved out to KD 100M, 200M and 300M. Perfect tracking during the box test. Consistent and accurate groupings. At this relatively short distance no issues at all. Amazing clarity, comparable to any of my other optics. Will be looking to Vortex for my 338 Lapua as well.
