If you like the Ontario RAT Model 1, but want something a little less bulky, then you'll love the Model 2. The RAT Model II is based on the popular Model I, it's smaller, but retains the same great shape and performance of the original. This knife is designed for comfort and performance with an index finger groove on the handle to keep your hand where it should be and jimping on the spine of the blade for controlled cutting. The handle features textured black nylon 6 scales with an open-built steel linerlock frame. The AUS-8 stainless steel drop point blade has a satin finish and a plain cutting edge. The RAT Model 2 is fully ambidextrous with dual thumb studs and a 4-way reversible pocket clip.

With in just a few days after being blown away by the quality of the Rat 1 I placed an order for the Ontario Rat 2 as well as the Ontario Utilitac 2. As with the Rat 1 the Rat 2 was a total home run. It is completely identical in materials used and build quality to it's big brother just on a smaller scale. If the Rat 1 interests you but prefer a smaller EDC blade this is the one for you.

I believe there is no better deal for a twenty five dollar folding knife. Japanese Aus 8 steel, good sharp edge, perfectly center when closed, easy deployment with thump stud, G10 handle, comfortable hold, light weight (less than 3 oz), 3 inches blade which is legal in Washington DC and most of the cities in the US. The knife was strong and sharp enough to shave off small pieces of wood from tree branches.
