Al Green Christmas

Al Green waited until the early '80s to finally make a Christmas album, which is in some ways too bad; had he made CHRISTMAS back in his tenure at Memphis-based Hi Records with genius producer Willie Mitchell, the resulting album would doubtlessly have had far more original instrumental arrangements than the somewhat faceless L.A. disco provided here. Still, Green being Green, the singing here is as angelic as can be, and anyone who can hear him caress the "fall on your knees" line from "O Holy Night" without the hairs on the back of his or her neck standing up is probably in need of medical attention.
