Prep: Bare soil - Loosen top layer of soil. Dead grass/thin area - Rake area and remove dead grass. For best results add a thin layer of Scotts Turf Builder Lawn Soil before applying seed. Apply: Small area - Spread by hand or with a Scotts handheld spreader. Large area - Apply using a specialty designed Scotts spreader. After seeding, apply Scotts Turf Builder Starter Fertilizer to boost your seeds performance for a thicker lawn that comes in quicker. Lightly rake to move the seed and fertilizer into the soil. Works well in questionable soil
Had our backyard re-graded to put in a concrete patio and landscaping and used this seed around the areas we want grass that the bobcat and cement trucks tore up. Seed took about 10 days and it started to germinate and almost 1-2 inches tall in spots. The healthy root structure is helping with soil erosion from rainfall already even with the sandy questionable top soil in my area. Will buy this seed again soon to seed more areas we plan to convert into grass.

4 Years Later
I drove by a yard that I replanted about 750 square feet of about 4 years ago and it was still a very healthy yard. Some grass seed grows up fast, but doesn't last very long. The Scott's seed grew at a healthy rate on top and at the roots and made for a durable, attractive yard.
