Dudu Nala was born in Durban in the Molweni area of Nkangala. Her primary education was at Luthela Lower Primary and then she went to Sizimisele Secondary School. She matriculated from Ngqungqulu High School in Molweni.She was lucky to get a job with the Durban Municipality in the P.R.C. Department. She worked as a library assistant for three years and then she worked for another three years at the Westville Museum as a museum officer. After that she went back to the Westville Library, where she still works.
