Overcoming situations, especially those from our pasts, isn't always an easy task. Kirsten Petersheim and Mark Yutzy are no exception to this rule as they each struggle with the issue. Each of them find that relying on self or others is not the answer to overcoming. Being honest with oneself and one's limitations is key. However, trusting God and seeking His will and guidance is the real answer to letting go of the past, overcoming it's effects, and being able to fully trust God's plan.
As per the title, Snowbound Amish Christmas, one would expect that the theme of Christmas would be a major part of the story. However, it was not. Even so, I found the story to be an enjoyable read that drives home the theme of moving on from the past by trusting God and His will.
Book Quotes:
Watch what you say to others because wrong words linger longer than you might expect.
Show me how to hand control over to You, God. Show me the way to relinquish my need to manage everything...and live the life You've chosen for me.
