I switched to BOONBOO refills for the environmental impact: I was shocked to learn consumers generate over 3.5 billion yards of floss waste globally every year (enough to wrap around the Earth almost 80 times!). Most is nylon, which doesn't biodegrade, and often ends up in the oceans where it can tangle in coral reefs or be swallowed by sea turtles and fish, causing suffocation. The refill system is brilliant; I just reuse my glass holder and stop tossing plastic dispensers that also pollute end up in the oceans and waterways.
