The poems in this collection comprise grand leaps through the stages of Ivy Page's life; her culminating work. Any Other Branch is a culmination of the work Ivy Page has done, and in many ways the life she has lived. The four sections in this book, "Men," "Room," "Girl," and "High Tide" are developmental, or life stages and they give the reader a glimpse into what is to come as they move through the "life" of the book. The stages are grand leaps, rather than small steps or divisions of time.
