The eighteenth-century fascination with Greek and Roman antiquity followed the systematic excavation of the ruins at Pompeii and Herculaneum in southern Italy; and after 1750 a neoclassical style dominated all artistic fields. The titles here trace developments in mostly English-language works on painting, sculpture, architecture, music, theater, and other disciplines. Instructional works on musical instruments, catalogs of art objects, comic operas, and more are also included.

Engraved throughout. Consists of musical instruction and hymn tunes, printed on alternate facing rectos and versos. Issued without title page. Title from first line of text. The imprint is given at the foot of the first two leaves. The only located copy, held by the American Antiquarian Society, is cropped with loss of imprint information from leaf 2. Johnston printed the same text from a different set of plates in 1755 (cf. Evans 7442). This text, in its several Johnston editions and impressions, is generally found bound with one of the several Boston editions of Brady and Tate or Watts' version of the Psalms.
