SAFAVIEH Pyramind Jefferson Floral Bordered Runner Rug, Ivory/Beige, 2'2" x 9'

I've been a huge fan of Safavieh rugs for many years, but the last few I've bought (from various retailers) have absolutely reeked of chemicals. Polypropylene doesn't stink, so it's got to be something they are dousing them with. I can't even be in the same room with them after several weeks airing out in the spare bedroom (for the worst ones, with a window cracked open to let the chemical stench out). They didn't used to be this way. I've given them 5 chances now--I'm done with Safavieh. It's a shame, bc the rugs are beautiful %26 easy care. BTW, I even shampooed one 3-4 times trying to remove the smell after weeks of airing out didn't do it. It was still overwhelming. It was down to "bad" after shampooing. I then aired it again for several weeks and finally--after a total of 6-7 weeks airing out and multiple shampooings in between--I could stand to have it in the room with us. (Have not had this problem with other brands, until trying Supreme brand to find a similar look-- the only one worse than Safavieh.) No strong smells with My Country House rugs, they're mild and fade almost immediately. Safavieh, please stop ruining your beautiful rugs with chemicals that smell like pesticides, don't air out, and are doing who-knows-what to our health.
