Mercedes Benz vehicles equipped with M156 engines may experience ??check engine light?? illumination, idle speed decrease or increase, and a ??run rough?? and shake conditions. This is primarily caused by the poor quality of the material used to make the OE intake manifold center plate (throttle valve cable tunnel) which rusts through creating a hole in the plate. SOLUTION:The replacement intake manifold center plate is designed to be a long lasting, easy replacement Instead replacing the complete intake manifold assembly, It is manufactured out of ADC12 Aluminum Alloy material.Compare to the OE plate thickness 0.8 mm and weight of 1.76 pounds, the replacement plate is 1.2 mm thick and weighs 2.64 pounds. The plate is manufactured on a 1000 Ton press which provides superior material compression compared to OE light duty machinery that allows for with excess ??air pockets?? in the material resulting in the poor metal quality that causes the common failure problem. The center plate is supplied with a gasket providing easy installation and proper fit after removal of the OE plate. The center plate is designed to last twice longer than the OE plate.
