This is a bath mat, not a doormat. there is no "thick pvc backing." if it shows up folded into fourths, then it is flimsy and not at all substantial. it would never even stay in place when someone walks on it, let alone if a string breeze comes along. It's a blurry print on a piece of cloth. i didn't even bother opening it, i just returned it.
