Genta drain plug

We purchased a new home with Moen products in it. The drain plug chipped on one of the sinks, and I was unaware that this was under builder warranty. So I purchased the plug at an outrageous price from Moen. Then a second sink plug chipped in the same place, so my husband contacted the builder and they said it was under warranty. The plumber came over and replaced it. Therefore, we had two sinks that the drain plug were defective on. We should've gotten the first one replaced for free. If two sinks had the same thing happen to them, the product is defective.
