This is the most wonderful fountain!
I love my fountain to the moon and back. I have been running it outdoors against my house wall for 2 years. Under the elements of snow and extreme heat, it hasn't lost its charm. It just keeps pumping and sounding in the most way. I have never done any maintenance, knock wood, but I pull out the cord and get the pump to spew out the algae sometimes. It seems to work well enough. I thought by now I would have to replace the pump and clean the fountain, but it's just wonderful the way it is. The bird drink from it, and the frogs even jump in to take a dip.

The fountain was defective. I am returning for a full refund.
