This is the first book of the Julie series tracing the adventures of Julie who was 16 years old in the 1960's.In this story, Julie is excited about going on her dream date with Jay and to her it meant that she was really beginning to grow up and becoming more like a woman than a girl. The date goes even better and after the movie she and Jay are able to have time together in his car, although it means that they end up losing track of the time and so she's quite late coming home and past her curfew.When she does get home, her parents give her a stark reminder that she is, still indeed, a girl and gets a punishment suitable for one.
