I've never seen towels like this before! All that I have ever owned before have had the terry cloth material on both sides. One side of these towels is smooth. I wasn't sure what to think of it at first. I was afraid they wouldn't be absorbant. The smooth side looks nice hanging in the bathroom. Adds a bit of detail & decoration. It also does serve it's purpose of absorbing the water and drying you off. The towels themselves are nice and long as well as being thick and heavy. Huge upgrade from my old, thin little towels that I was using previously. They look nice and are effective. Two birds with one stone! They also seem well made and like they would wash well but I haven't washed them enough to confirm that!
